Parippu vada / Masala Vada


Parippu vada is an easy to make recipe and is best as an evening snack for the tea time. It is nutritious and healthy too. Ger rhem ready for the kids when they come back from school and see the smile on their faces.

Ingredients needed for Parippu Vada
2 cups Kadala parippu / Channa dal
1/2 cup chopped small onions
4 green chillies
1 tsp ginger chopped optional
handful curry leaves
Salt to taste
oil for deep frying

How to prepare Parippu vadas at home 
Soak dal in water for an hour. Don't let it soak longer as they tend to get soggy and watery.
Drain out the water and run the dal in the mixer  to a coarse mix  and then add  the other chopped ingredients. Just run the mixer to blend evrything nicely.
The mix should only be semi ground and some of the whole dal should also be seen here and there,
Heat oil in a fry pan, shape the vadas and deep fry them till they are golden brown.
Serve hot.
