Ingredients needed for Vathal Kuzhambu podi
1cup coriander seeds
1cup dry red chilies
2 tbsps tur dal
1 tbsp channa dal
4 tbsp black pepper
1 tbsp turmeric powder
2 tsps cumin seeds
2 tsps fenugreek seeds
How to prepare Vathal Kuzhambu podi?
Dry roast toor dal, channa dal, cumin seeds and fenugreek seeds separately in a kadai or pan for few minutes. Each ingredient takes its own time to roast. Make sure to not burn the ingredients.
Similarly, dry roast red chilies, coriander seeds and black pepper individually. Coo them.
Dry grind all the ingredients in a mixer grinder to a smooth powder. When done add turmeric powder and run the mixer again for a minute. Cool.
Remove and store the powder in an airtight container and use to prepare curries like puli kuzhambu / kara kuzhambu / vathal kuzhambu.
