Madhurakkali, a traditional sweet from Kerala

Ingredients needed for Madhurakkali
1/4 cup Cherupayar parippu / cooked moong dal
1 cup roasted rice flour
1 cup fresh grated coconut crushed nicely with your hands
1 cup jaggery powdered
1/2  tsp cardamom powder
1 1/2 tsp ghee
a pinch of salt

How to prepare Madhurakkali?
Heat a cup of water in a pan, add powdered jaggery, mix well. As soon as the jaggery dissolves, remove and strain. Keep aside.
Now in a non stick pan, add the jaggery water and the cooked dal with a pinch of salt.
Mix well and cook till it starts boiling.
Now add rice flour little by little and mix well. See that it does not form lumps.
Once the rice flour gets cooked, add the cardamom powder and the crushed coconut.
Mix well and let cool. The Kali should be at the consistency of Uppuma.
Serve either hot or cold.

Notes
If you feel the amount of water you added is not enough for cooking the rice flour, sprinkle more water according to your need and mix well. The rice flour should be soft. Be careful to see that it does not become watery.
