Dal Makhni

Ingredients needed for Dal Makhni
Whole Black Urad Dal - 1/2 cup
Rajma (Kidney Beans) - 3 tbsp
Chopped Onions - 1/2 cup
Tomato Puree - 1/2 cup
Garlic Paste - 1 tbsp
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
Red Chilly Powder - 1 tblsp
Cumin Powder - 1 tsp
Corriander Powder - 2 tsp
Fresh Cream - 3 tbsp
Salt - to taste

How to prepare Dal Makhni?
Wash and soak whole urad and rajma overnight fully covered in water.
Pressure cook urad and rajma until it turns soft. You will have to simmer for 15 minutes after the first whistle.
Then mash it slightly with the back of the tablespoon or a masher and keep aside.
Heat oil / butter in a pan, splutter cumin seeds. Add chopped onions and fry till they are golden.
Add garlic paste and fry for a minute or two.
Then add tomato puree and fry till oil starts oozing from the sides of the pan.
Add red chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, salt to taste and fry well.
Now add the cooked dal and mix well. 
Once it starts to boil, simmer and cover for about 10 minutes.
Add fresh cream and mix well. Remove.
Serve hot with naan / roti.
