Ingredients needed for Chingri Bora / Prawn Fritters
1 cup deshelled and deveined prawns
1/2 cup masoor dal / red gram dal
1/4 cup freshly grated coconut
1 cup onions finely sliced
6 green chillies minced
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
handful chopped coriander leaves
Salt to taste
oil for deep frying
How to prepare Chingri Bora / Prawn fritters ?
Clean, wash and soak the masoor dal for about half an hour.
Then grind prawns, coconut and the dal together to a smooth paste.
Mix finely sliced onions, green chillies, grated coconut, turmeric powder, salt to taste and the chopped coriander leaves together.
Combine the chopped vegetable mix and the ground prawn paste together and see that they mix nicely.
Heat oil in a deep fry pan. Using a table spoon drop the mixture into the hot oil, fry till they are golden.
Drain and continue in the same way till the mix gets over.
Serve hot either as an evening tea time snack or as a side dish with rice and pulaos.
It would be better to use spoon for dropping the mixture into the hot oil. The shape would come beautifully.
As a variation you can also use channa dal instead of masoor dal, the taste will be slightly different.
