Chemmeen Ularthiyathu


Ingredients needed for Chemmeen Ularthiyathu
2 cups cleaned Prawns ( about 500 grams of prawns )
1 small piece ginger finey chopped
4 garlic flakes, finely chopped
1 tsp kashmiri red chilly powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1/4 tsp pepper powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 tbsps small onions finely chopped
1/2 cup coconut cut in to small pieces
1 tsp tamarind thick pulp
3 tbsps coconut oil
1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
1/2 cup small onions sliced
few curry leaves
Salt to taste

How to prepare Chemmeen Ularthiyathu?
Mix well red chilly powder, coriander powder, pepper powder, turmeric powder, finely chopped onions, finely chopped ginger, garlic, tamarind, curry leaves, salt and coconut slices in a bowl. Mix well crushing with your hands. Now add the cleaned prawns and keep aside for half an hour. 
Add a cup of water to the prawns mix and cook for 10 minutes, covered on a low flame.
See that the prawns are well coated with the masala. Remove.
Heat coconut oil in another pan, splutter mustard seeds. Add the sliced onions and saute till it becomes golden brown in color.
Add curry leaves and the cooked prawns. Saute well until the prawns get roasted.
Chemmeen Ularthiyathu is ready to serve.
