Dhaniya Tomato Chutney

This is another version of tomato chutney in which whole coriander seeds and red chillies are used instead of the ready made powders. This is a very yummy chutney and goes well with snacks.

Ingredients needed for Dhaniya Tomato Chutney
2 tbsps oil
2 tbsps coriander seeds
6-8 red chillies
1 cup tomatoes crushed
few curry leaves
10 garlic flakes
1 tsp ginger chopped
10 small onions

How to prepare Dhaniya Tomato Chutney ?
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a fry pan, fry  of coriander seeds and 6 red chillies. When they turn brown, remove.
In the same pan add the remaining oil and put in curry leaves, garlic flakes, ginger and small onions. Fry till the onions turn golden.
Now add the crushed tomatoes and fry till they turn soft and pulpy. Remove and let cool.
In a mixer, put in the fried red chillies and coriander seeds and onion tomato mixture.
Grind them to a smooth fine paste.
Serve this tasty chutney with Idli, Dosa, Uthappam etc.

Notes
The recipe calls for whole dhaniya seeds and not coriander powder. You can add coriander powder and chilli powder after you fry the onions and then add tomatoes but the flavour and taste of the chutney will be different.
