Rice Rava Uppumavu


Ingredients needed for Rice Rava Uppuma
2 tbsps channa dal
1 tbsp tur dal
4 Red chillies
1 tsp urad dal
2 cups rice rava
4 tbsps oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 cup onion, chopped
1 cup tomato, chopped finely
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp asafoetida powder
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
1 tbsp chopped curry leaves
Salt to taste
1/2 cup fresh grated coconut ( optional )

How to prepare Rice Rava Uppuma?
In a mixer grind the channa dal, Urad Dal, Turdal and red chillies into a coarse powder.
Mix this well with the rice rava. Keep aside.
Heat oil in a fry pan, splutter mustard seeds.
Add the chopped onions and saute till they are golden. Add tomatoes and turmeric powder. Cook till the tomatoes are soft and the oil floats on the top.
Add asafoetida powder, salt to taste, coriander and curry leaves. Fry for a few minutes ill all the ingredients mix well.
Add 6 cups of water and as the water starts to boil, simmer and add the rice rawa little by little .
Cover the kadai with a lid and let the uppuma cook till done.
If you like, you can add half a cup of grated coconut and mix well. Garnish with chopped curry and coriander leaves.
Serve with chutney and Sambar.
