Rava Semiya Kitchadi


Ingredients needed for Rava Semiya Kitchadi
2 cups thin roasted semiya ( Vermicelli )
2 cups Rava
1 cup chopped onions
1cup chopped tomatoes
3 green chillies, cut into 2/3 pieces
1 tsp chopped ginger
4-6 flakes garlic
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/2 cup oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp broken/ split Urad Dal
1 tsp channa Dal
2 tbsps split / broken cashews
Handful curry leaves
2 tbsps chopped coriander leaves
Salt to taste ( 2 tsps approximately )

How to prepare Rava Semiya Kitchadi?
Heat a fry pan, roast the rava if not roasted already, without oil. Keep aside.
Now add the oil in the pan, add mustard seeds, urad Dal, Channa Dal. Allow thw mustardseeds to splutter, then add chopped ginger, green chillies and garlic.
As the garlic and green chillies start turning colour, add chopped onions and fry till they are golden.
Now add chilli powder, turmeric powder, mix well.
Add chopped tomatoes and stir till the tomatoes turn pulpy. Add chopped coriander leaves and curry leaves.
Now add one and a half cups of water for every cup of Rava and Semiya,that is, about 6 cups of water for 4 cups of Rava and Semiya.
As it starts boiling, add semiya little by little and then add Rava slowly. Mix well.
As it starts boiling again, simmer the flame and cover. Cook till the mix turns somewhat dry and put out the flame.
Cover and leave it for 10 minutes.
Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.
