Pavaikka Pachadi


Ingredients needed for the Pavaikka Pachadi
1 cup of chopped bittergourds
1 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp pepper powder
2 flakes of garlic
2 small onions
1/2" piece ginger
salt to taste
1/2 cup oil
1 cup curds
1/2 tsp sugar
salt to taste
1 tbsp Coconut paste
1/4 tsp crushed mustard
1 tbsp coconut oil
1/2 tsp mustard
broken red chilli
4 flakes crushed garlic
2 small onions sliced fine
handful curry leaves

How to prepare Pavaikka Pachadi?
Slit bittergourds into four pieces lengthwise and chop them into small pieces.
Mix in all the powder masala to the bittergourd pieces and keep aside for 15 minutes.
Heat oil and fry the Pavaikka pieces till they are crisp and golden.
Mix curd, sugar, salt to taste, coconut paste, and crushed mustard together.
Add the fried bitter gourd pieces and mix well.
Temper the gravy with the ingredients.
Pachhadi is ready to serve.

Notes
This is a very healthy side dish . Bittergourds are known to help improve diabetes. This is served as a side dish with rice and sambar.
