How to bake a perfect Cake?

How to bake a cake? Is it difficult ? Can I do it? These are common questions from a beginner to Baking who is a novice as well. I will try and tell you what all steps should be taken  to get a tasty and delicious Cake.
Baking a cake is very simple, you just have to follow the recipe. For that you have to get a good recipe. Once you have the basic recipe you can change it or adapt the recipe to suit your needs, like adding flavourings and colourings as you wish.

Basic steps to be followed while baking a simple cake 
First of all, what you have to do is to take about 100 grams of butter, caster sugar, self raising flour and 2 eggs  and this should be  easy to remember as it is 100 grams of each ingredient.  If you can weigh the whole eggs before you use them. it would be easier to go by this rule. The amount of flour, sugar and butter should be equal in weight to the eggs. you need not use approximate weight like " about 100 grams ".

First sieve the flour with baking powder with a pinch of salt. Whisk the butter and sugar together until the mixture gets light and creamy, then add the eggs and beat well . mixing them all together.  Gradually  add a little bit of flour, the flour to the mixture and fold in till all the remaining flour is used up. The best way to do "Fold in" is to "cut  and round" motion. That is when you add the flour, you just cut through the mixture with the spatula just as if you were cutting it through the center and then bring the spatula round the bowl in a circle, through the inside of the bowl.

As soon as you finish folding in all the flour, you have to get two cake tins about 6" diameter, greased with butter. Pour the batter equally into the two tins and then  bake in an oven for about 20 - 25 minutes  at a temperature 190*C which will be equal to gas mark 5 or 375*F

Another thing you have to remember is that you have preheat the oven and bring it to the temperature before you put in the cake tins. Once you put the tins about 3/4ths with the batter you are not supposed to open the oven door till the cake gets cooked. If you do then the cake will sink in the middle. You can tell the cake is done when it gets all golden on top and rises uniformly well.
