Fish Moilee / Fish in coconut milk


Ingredients needed for Fish Moilee
1 kilo fish fillets
1"piece ginger
10 garlic flakes
10 small onions
juice of one lime
1 tbsp chilli powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
Maida as needed
coconut oil to fry the fish

For the Fish Moilee Gravy
2 cups onions sliced finely
8  green chillies slit to the ends
1"piece ginger julienned
10 garlic flakes
1/2 small onions chopped
2 cups tomatoes cut into pieces
1 1/2 cups thick coconut m8ilk
3 cups thin milk

How to prepare Fish Moilee?
Clean and wash fish and dry with a towel. Keep aside.
Grind ginger, garlic, small onions, lime juice, chilli powder, turmeric powder  and salt to taste together to a nice smooth paste.
Apply the mix all over the fish pieces and keep the remaining masala aside.
Now sprinkle maida all over the fish and fry till they are golden and remove. Keep aside.
Now heat oil in a wide fry pan and saute the sliced ingredients onions, ginger, garlic, green chillies and small onions to a golden colour.
Add the remaining masala which you have kept aside after applying over the fish. Saute till the oil  starts oozing out.
Now  add the chopped tomatoes and the thin milk. Let it boil, simmer for 2-3 minutes.
Add the fried fish  to the simmering gravy.
As the gravy thickens add the thick milk and remove from fire. Do not let it boil, asit will curdle.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and curry leaves.
