Ingredients needed for Eral Thokku / Prawns Masala fry
1/2 kilo prawns
1 cup onions finely chopped
1 cup tomato, finely Chopped
1tbsp ginger and garlic paste
2 tsps red chili powder
4 tsps coriander powder
1 tsp garam masala powder
2 tbsps oil
salt to taste
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 piece cinnamon
2 bay leaves
How to prepare Eral Thokku / Prawns Masala fry?
Heat oil in a fry pan and add cumin seeds, cinnamon, cloves and bay leaves. As it starts browning, add the onions and fry till it changes to transparent.
Add the Tomatoes and fry till it is soft and mushy.
Add the ginger garlic paste and the powders with salt to taste.
Mix well and fry till the oil starts oozing from the sides of the pan.
Now add the cleaned and washed prawns / shrimps. Mix well and cover.
Simmer and cook till the prawns are tender.
Then open the lid and dry out the extra moisture from the gravy.
The gravy should have the consistency of just about coating the prawns / shrimps.
