Baby potatoes in spicy gravy


Ingredients needed for the baby potatoes in a  spicy gravy
250 grams baby potatoes
1 tsp oil
1 onion cut into cubes,
2 tomatoes
1/2" piece ginger
4 flakes garlic
1 green chilli
2 tbsps oil
1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
1 pnch asafoetida
few curry leaves
1 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp cumin / jeera powder
1/2 cup water
chopped coriander leaves for garnishing

How to prepare baby potatoes with gravy?
Cook and peel small / baby potatoes, fry them till they are golden and  keep aside.
heat one tsp of oil and saute onion, tomatoes, ginger, garlic and green chilli till they are golden and remove from fire.
When cool grind the ingredients to a smooth paste.
Now heat the 2 tablespoons of oil in a fry pan, fry fenugreek seeds, curry leaves and asafoetida.
Add the ground masala paste to the pan and saute well till the oil starts oozing out on the sides of the pan.
Add chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin / jeera powder and the water.
Mix well and add the fried baby potatoes. As it starts boiling simmer, cover and cook for a few minutes or till the potatoes and the gravy blends well.
Remove from fire , garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
Serve hot with chappathies as a side dish.
