How to prepare Spinach puree?

Palak or Spinach is a very healthy and nutritious vegetable. You can use it any way you like. Some of the famous spinach dishes are Palak Paneer, Mutton Saag or Chicken Saag, Dhal Palak, Palak pakodas etc.

For gravy based Palak dishes, puree / paste is needed and that should also be green in colour. Only then the gravy will look attractive. To prepare a green palak puree / paste just follow the method mentioned below.

How to prepare Spinach / Palak Puree?
Take a bunch or two of the palak leaves. First clean and wash the palak leaves and remove stems if any.
Now  pour a cup of water into a wide bottommed vessel and put on fire.
As the water starts boiling add the spinach leaves. Cover for a minute or so.
Now you can see the leaves getting limp and immerse in water. Once all the leaves are immersed, remove from fire.
Cover for a minute and then drain out the hot water. Rinse under tap in running water.
Drain the water, keep aside.
Put the leaves in the blender and blend it to a puree.
You can store the puree in the refrigerator for about 3-4 days at the most for a week.
