Coconut and Red Chilly Chutney


Ingredients needed for Coconut and Red Chilly Chutney
1 cup grated coconut
1/2 tsp Tamarind paste or a one inch piece of fresh tamarind)
4-5 red chillies
2 small onions
1 small piece Ginger
Salt-to taste

Tempering
2 tsps Oil
1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
1 tsp small onions finely chopped 
a fat pinch asafoetida
few Curry leaves

How to prepare Coconut and Red Chilly Chutney?
Grind the Coconut, red chillies, small onions, ginger and tamarind together with enough water to make a thick paste. Add just enough water to bring it to the chutney consistency.
Heat oil in a fry pan, splutter mustard seeds.
Saute the onions till golden, add the asafoetida powder and the curry leaves. Pour this over the ground chutney and mix well.
Serve this with any snack like Dosa, Idly.
