Prawn Mappas


Ingredients needed for Prawn Mappas
500 grams Prawns
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
1/2 tsp Pepper powder
1/2 tsp Chilly powder
2 tsps Coriander powder
4 small onions
2 to 3 tbsps oil
1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
a pinch Fenugreek seeds
2 tsps Ginger julienned
3 tsps Garlic flakes chopped
3 Green chillies slit
1 cup Onion thinly sliced
Curry leaves – A few
Cocums – 4 ( Washed and soaked in warm water for a few minutes)
2cups thin coconut milk
1/2 cup thick coconut milk
Salt to taste

How to prepare Prawn Mappas?
First wash and devein the prawns. Keep aside.
Grind Turmeric powder, pepper powder, Chilli powder, coriander powder and the small onions to a paste. keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds. Then add sliced onions, green chillies, garlic and ginger. Saute till the onions turn golden. 
Add the ground masala paste and fry well.
Add the thin coconut milk, soaked cocum and bring to a boil. Simmer and add prawns with salt to taste.
Cook till the prawns are tender and the gravy thickens. 
Now add the thick coconut milk along with a few curry leaves.
Simmer and cook for a few minutes. Remove from fire and serve hot with rice or Kappa puzhukku.
