Fish Biryani


Ingredients needed for Fish Biryani
1/2 kilo fish
4 cups sliced onions
2 tbsps cashewnuts
2 tbsps kismis
1 cup ghee
1 kilo basmathi rice
4 cups chopped tomatoes
10 green chillies
1 tsp garam masala powder
2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
2 tbsp mint leaves
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsps ginger paste
2 tsps garlic paste
salt to taste
1 tsp saunf powder

How to prepare Fish biryani kerala style recipe?
Clean, wash fish pieces and prick / slash if needed.
Mix chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt mixed with a little water to make a thick paste. Apply all over the fish pieces and keep aside.
Heat coconut oil in a pan, fry the fish pieces to a golden colour , remove and keep aside.
Heat half a cup ghee in a fry pan, deep fry the sliced onions to a golden colour, drain and keep aside.
In the remaining ghee of the same pan, fry the cashew nuts and kismis to a golden colour , remove.
Heat the remaining ghee, fry the soaked and drained rice till the rice gets hot to the touch.
Heat a litre of water or the equal amount of the rice to the vessel and bring the water to boil. As it starts boiling add the fried rice and cook till the water dries off.
Heat the remaining oil in which you fried the fish, saute ginger and garlic paste, chopped tomato and green chillies together till they are cooked.
Add half of the fried onions , just enough salt, fried fish pieces, coriander leaves, mint leaves and the garam masala powder. Mix well and simmer for 5 minutes.
Add the cooked rice and mix well. Garnish with the remaining fried onions, cashew nuts and kismis.
Serve hot with onion and cucumber pachadi and a spicy side dish.
